New Moon Phantom

New Moon Phantom

I am the constellations' twinkling eyes
and like a new moon phantom  in the distance
I cloak myself from earth's judgemental spies
though this separation is the bane of my existence

Peering through the darkness I lie weeping
alone and cold in this great outer space
I dream of earth and you while I am sleeping
and awaken with a smile upon my face

Then like a painful star shoots cross the heavens
a frozen atmospheric tear is wept
remembering what was promised on a full moon
but that time and distance said could not be kept

So I lay my phantom head against the new moon
hiding from the light of the earth's brand new day
I dream of landing safely on your planet
but must wait for a guiding star to show the way.
